With its round shape, it always rolls towards the sewing table so that you can get an overview of the correct measurements of your sewing pieces.
Simply pull it to the desired length. A retention mechanism holds the tape measure in the desired position while you measure. And when you're finished, you can rewind the tape into the case at the touch of a button using a spring mechanism. It's neatly rolled up again.
